Archived: Chino Sumantri – Chosen to represent Team USA at the Pencak Silat World Championships in Bali, Indonesia

iCrowdNewswire - May 11, 2016

First and foremost I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read my story, it means a lot to me to know that people are supporting what I am trying to achieve.

My name is Chino Sumantri, I am a Pencak Silat instructor in the Washington Metropolitan area. I’ve been chosen by the Pencak Silat Federation of the USA to represent Team USA at the World Championship in Bali, Indonesia.

Pencak Silat is an ancient martial art that originated in Nusantara community which includes, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore. Silat has been a major part of my life, I’ve studied the art for over 20 years under the instruction of my brother. Pencak Silat is not just a martial art that promotes physical fitness but it is beyond that. The art cultivates my mind and body to become better individual in life. In our branch of Pencak Silat our creed says “to be able to improve my performance” this principle is applied in my training sessions and every aspect of my life. I always try to bring a better version of me when it comes to my performance and life because there is always room for improvement.

Being able to attend the World Championship in December 2016 is not only a great opportunity but an honor to be able to represent the USA at this prestigious event which will be attended by 44 countries.

The sponsorship will cover the cost of travel, hotel, tournament fees, field & equipment rental, transportation and other expenses.

Again, thank you for taking the time to read my story. I truly appreciate any help and support I receive.
