Global ECM volume dropped 52% year-on-year to $125.0bn via 803 deals in 1Q 2016, the lowest first quarter total since 2009 ($71.1bn via 548 deals) and the lowest quarterly volume since 4Q 2011 ($99.2bn). China was the top nation for ECM issuance for the second consecutive quarter, with $40.1bn via 151 deals

ECM Sector Analysis
Oil & Gas led global ECM with $18.8bn and a 15% market share, the highest 1Q share on record for the sector. Technology led global ECM activity with 112 deals in 1Q 2016, despite a 33% drop in activity from 166 deals in 1Q 2015
