About this project

http://www.stepapp.me

StepApp will be an application with a simple and clean UI, accessible from both browsers and mobile devices. It will serve as a platform for organizing group sports events, using public, green spaces. People will be able to organize one, given they have chosen a public space, convenient for the chosen type of activity. For example, if you are a Karate trainer, you can login into the application, choose Karate as a sport and click on “organize event”. There, based on your location, the application will suggest appropriate public spaces, as well as free time slots. You will then organize the event, which will be visible to all of the application’s users. They, on the other hand, will be able to search for your event by selecting Karate as a sport and browse nearby Karate events. So, for example, if you want to learn Karate and you live in London, you can just select it as a sport and the application will show you all the Karate sessions near you in London. If you work till 6 PM, you can choose an event which runs, let’s say 7-8 PM, each Wednesday and simply sign up for it. Examples of activities which could easily be practiced outside are martial arts, aerobics, yoga, football, Zumba, dancing and pretty much any activity which does not require heavily-specialized equipment. Even the latter can be organized, given there is a convenient public venue available, such as a basketball field. Our application will manage all the available public spaces, events, as well as time slots already booked. This of course will not limit non-application users to access the public space, but will greatly aid the organization of sports events and will incentivize people to do exercise wherever they want, whenever they want.

Risks and challenges

It all comes down to marketing and advertisement after we go live. The success of our project relies on that we manage to onboard enough active users. The bigger the community – the more successful our project will be.
