Kastr is building a next-generation social platform for premium, live, interactive video broadcasting.
Founded by an experienced team and funded by one of Europe’s largest media companies, Kastr aims to be the professional alternative to live-streaming platforms such as YouNow [1], Meerkat[2] and Periscope[3]. Kastr seeks to revolutionise entertainment by enabling the consumption and monetisation of high quality, live content and to become the number one live interactive broadcaster in the world.
With their recent launches, Meerkat and Periscope have validated technological advances proving that it is possible to live-stream on mobile devices. Periscope was acquired by Twitter in January 2015 [4] and has since been integrated into the Twitter platform, which, in the opinion of the Directors, constrains its application.
The Directors consider the following unique selling points for Kastr:
The Directors’ objective for this raise is to provide a second and final round of seed funding, targeting between £1.40m ($2.0m) and 1.74m ($2.50m)* for between 30.63% and 35.56% (3.06% – 9.95% available to CrowdBnk investors) equity stake. These funds will provide the runway in advance of a Series A round expected to close by December 2016. The Directors plan for two-thirds of the funding to be devoted to ongoing technology development, with the balance split evenly between marketing and overhead.
