ENDESA PRESENTS THE SUSTAINABILITY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY AWARD TO THE “DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHING CENTRES” EDUCATION GROUP
Madrid, 25 November 2015.- Endesa participated in the closing ceremony of the fourth edition of Supporting SMEs during which it presented the Endesa Award for Sustainability and Energy Efficiency to the Development of Teaching Centres educational group. In this edition the Supporting SMEs initiative involved 22 major companies, including Endesa, all wanting to share their knowledge in order to guide and give advice to the more than 6,000 small and medium-sized Spanish businesses which participated in this project.
The closing ceremony of this fourth edition of Supporting SMEs took place at the Rafael del Pino Auditorium in Madrid and was attended by the Director General of Industry and Small and Medium Businesses, Victor Audera López.
During the event, Endesa presented the last of the awards for sustainability and energy efficiency to the Development of Teaching Centres group, one of the most important educational groups nationwide with a presence in most of the Autonomous Communities in a total of 35 schools.
Endesa recognised the activities carried out by this educational group as being more efficient in their energy consumption. In particular, the boiler rooms were changed from traditional fuel to natural gas in the schools of El Prado (Madrid), Las Acacias (Vigo), Pinoalbar (Valladolid), Los Robles (Pruvia-Llanera, Asturias) and Entreolivos (Seville). In addition, after a personalised study of consumption in several schools, a reduction of over 20% in energy costs was achieved, which resulted in a considerable reduction in C02 emissions.
Also, the Development of Teaching Centres group has, in recent years, actively managed power optimisations which have helped to reduce their energy costs.
Supporting SMEs 2015
The fourth edition of Supporting SMEs was inaugurated in Madrid in January this year and has passed through eleven Spanish cities and been a great public success. SMEs in Bilbao, Seville, Murcia, Santander, Tenerife, Barcelona, Valencia, Palma de Mallorca, Logroño, La Coruña and now Madrid have closely followed these meetings which have featured positive, educational and training aspects. More than 6,000 attendees have been able to analyse issues such as the recruiting of talent, financing, internationalisation or mobility, cloud computing, the management of customers, digital transformation, security and e-commerce.
Endesa has opted for efficiency so that companies become more competitive without losing their effectiveness; this is why it has awarded prizes to SMEs which have made efforts to become more efficient. These measures include more efficient lighting systems that may lead to savings of up to 70% in business, reducing the temperature by a degree by adjusting air conditioning appliances which causes a 7% reduction in consumption, or renewing a company’s refrigeration appliances for more efficient models which can help save up to 39% on the bill.
