Lunchbox Theatre presents:
Live Theatre inspiring
Water Conservation in schools
Water saving inspired by a fun and educational live theatre show, workshop and inter-school competition – we invite you to join this exciting opportunity to conserve our precious water resources!
Imagine 10 schools each on a mission to save as much water as possible so that they can be crowned the Water Wise School for the Garden Route.
This is something that Lunchbox Theatre sets out to achieve through the medium of the performing arts.
Lunchbox Theatre is a NPO based on the picturesque Garden Route, South Africa. Our mission is to take important environmental and social messages into the very heart of communities in the Southern Cape using the interactive, entertaining and educational medium of live theatre.
Our shows focus on Marine Conservation, Biodiversity, Tree Planting, Children’s Rights and Domestic Animal Welfare. For this campaign we will be taking our Water Conservation show, The Last Drop and our Water Heroes Workshop to schools in the rural and underprivileged areas of the Southern Cape.
Before each show a meter reading of water consumption will be taken from each school. Another reading will be taken once a month after the show for a period of 3 months. The school that reduces their usage by the greatest percentage is crowned Water Wise School of the year and would be honoured at a wonderful Prize Giving Event, which will acknowledge the Heroes as leading lights.
Prizes will be drawn from local water wise businesses and take the form of water saving and other environmentally friendly infrastructure.
If we can convince enough youngsters to become AWARE of how much water they use and how they can save it, this will positively change their behaviour so that they can lead by example into the future. A generation of Water Heroes will bode well for a region, which is challenged by droughts. This could be a pilot project, which could roll out nationally or to other parts of the arid continent.
We need to get the message out to more youngsters, to make a real difference. We have all the schools lined up, a show that is ready to be performed and a real danger of an ever declining resource. All we need is funding of R5000 per show to bring positive forces together and contribute to water saving! This is your planet too and your precious resource that the children will be helping to conserve. We invite you to assist us in making this happen.
Please support our cause, as every drop counts!
