After a few very long minutes the snow patrol came and gave my arm a squeeze above my elbow – It crunched around like a bag of gravel would.
At the time I was a 35mm projectionist at Village Cinemas; I called my boss straight away and he was the first to make the joke, “Broken Humerus, that’s not very funny is it?” It was original then, after the 324th time that month it wasn’t.
Somewhere in my painkiller-induced-recovery-daze, between episodes episodes of Spongebob, Yew.tv was born.
I’ve always loved action sports, especially board sports. I grew up on the north coast; skateboard with mates, surfing with my parents, watching Fuel TV at all other times. Now, at the ripe age of 26, I really want to give back to the community and sports that has given me so much.
Initially I launched Yew.tv as a Skateboard Film Fest in Melbourne, Then a Snow Film Fest in NZ, followed by a Surf Film fest last year all around Australia & NZ. This year, I’ve welcomed Todd on board for some help marketing this thing and we’ve opened entries up to all Action Sports types in one event.
This crowdfunding campaign a transparent way to show you guys that all profits go back to filmmakers, helping us with our sole mission to to promote the arts and creativity that gravitate around action sports.
Also, next year we’re going for a government grant and having a crowdfunding campaign under your belt really strengthens your application.
Peace, Love & Yew.
