On September 16, 2015, the city of Freetown, Sierra Leone flooded after torrential rainfalls. The downpour resulted to serious floods that killed hundreds of people and displaced thousands more. To this date there are thousands of young children and women yet to reunite with their families. Families have lost the little food they had and many fear a serious disease outbreak in this already venerable part of the world.
The weather forecast shows more rain the next six days and through the rainy season. As part of the a solidarity initiative, The Organization of African Youth, The African Union Youth Working Group, and the ECOWAS Youth Organization are doing a fundraiser to help these families.
If you recall, Sierra Leone was just recently hard hit by the Ebola virus and it is still a threat in the country. As a result, our brothers and sisters in Freetown need our help.
The Solidarity initiative is seeking donation in cash and kind. However cash donations are urgently needed to reach and help these families immediately. Your donations will be used to buy food stuffs, clothing, medicine, build shelters and help rebuild a displaced and ravaged community.
Please consider donating any amount, $5.00, $10.00, $25.00, $50.00, no amount is small.
