Adults Only: A Dangerous Evening of New Work by Dean Imperial

WHAT:
Core Artist Ensemble is raising funds to launch our largest-scale production to date, Adults Only: A Dangerous Evening of New Work by Dean Imperial. Written, directed, and performed entirely by Core Artists, Adults Only is a collection of plays about being human. It’s about our fears and desires, wants, disappointments, insecurities, mistakes, secrets. It’s about the things that happen between adults behind closed doors. It’s an attempt to be as honest as possible about human behavior without compromise. It’s about the parts of ourselves that scare us–the dangerous parts.

WHO:

Core Artist Ensemble is a collective of nearly 30 actors, playwrights, and directors collaborating to bring provocative, inspiring, and entertaining new work to a thoughtful and discerning New York City audience. Core productions are developed with the intention of sparking critical thought and larger ongoing conversations involving human relationships, community, and culture. For more info visit http://coreartistensemble.org/

WHERE:

This show will premiere at The Barrow Group’s TBG Theatre, a 99-seat space in the heart of Manhattan’s Theatre District (312 W. 36th St, 3rd Floor, NY, NY 10018).

WHEN:
Adults Only is already in pre-production. We will begin rehearsals in December, and the show will run February 5-21, 2016. However, we must raise the money to pay for the theater rental and many of the production expenses right away! We have already raised $5,000 of our $30,000 production budget, and our goal is to raise the remaining $25,000 by November 5th! Right now, you can help us achieve our goal by donating to our TAX-DEDUCTIBLE Rockethub campaign.

HOW:
Producing a play in New York City is expensive, and your contribution today is essential to our success. This production will only be possible through the collective generosity of friends, family, and supportive theatergoers like you, who believe in the development of bold and exciting new work.

Here are just some of our expenses that your donation will help to cover:

  • Theater Rental: This is our biggest expense; 99-seat theater rentals in NYC range anywhere from $10,000-$18,000 for a 3-week run.
  • Rehearsal Space
  • Liability Insurance
  • Actors Equity Fees
  • Set Design, Building Material and Construction
  • Rental of Props, Costumes, Light and Sound Equipment
  • Promotion/Marketing
  • Personnel: It is extremely important to us that we are able to compensate all of our artists for their work. We’ll need to pay our director, playwright, set designer, lighting designer, technical director, stage manager, sound/music designer, load in/load out labor, and finally our actors

WHY:
At Core Artist Ensemble, we believe that our most important collaborator is YOU–our audience!! You are what drives us forward as storytellers and you are the most vital part of what we do and why we do it. Your donation today will help us continue our mission to challenge, entertain, and enlighten our audiences with relevant and insightful new work and bring quality theater to the New York stage.
