The Star over Carraway Medical Center was a blue beacon of hope over Birmingham for 50 years. It welcomed travelers to The Magic City, both on the road and as a point of reference for airline pilots landing at the airport. In 2008 the Star was extinguished over the former hospital. We believe that the Star should shine again over the Magic City as a part of it’s history. Led by former Carraway caregivers, and working with the Carraway family, our goal is to preserve the legacy that we were proud to be a part of for our city. We are working to find a new home for the Star, and we are asking for donations to help purchase, move, and make repairs to the once great symbol. ALL donations will go to these efforts; anything left over will be donated to a deserving local charity to be determined at a later date.
