Circles of Life:
Resilience through Play
Support us to bring flow arts to under-resourced communities.
Creating resilience through play.
Who is who?
Circles of Life is a team of passionate flow artists, with a dream to inspire youth to find their passion, and go where it takes them.
Our primary beneficiaries come from under-resourced communities. Our focus is the 8 – 18 year age bracket when peer pressure and the lure of unhealthy choices become more prominent.
What do we do?
We plan to provide an opportunity for students to explore, create and express in a safe and joyful environment. encouraging them to master new skills and providing them with opportunities to drop into a positive mind space.
Initially we will provide weekly classes at a school in the Imizamo Yethu community in Hout Bay. At the end of the year students will perform for their school and community. They will also take part in a week long flow camp where additional self-development and complimentary arts will be provided. We aim to build resilience and inspire students to follow their dreams.
Our dream is to register as a non-profit and provide these programmes to an increasing number of schools across the Western Cape. We want to grow into a local and internationally recognised performance arts organization exposing South African talent to an ever growing arts community.
Why do we do it?
We ourselves have experienced the life changing power of flow and have followed our dreams. The Flow Philosophy –Flow toys are tools which assist a person’s mind to enter into a state where nothing else seems to matter. Achieving the flow state opens the heart and the mind allowing engagement in the world with openness and possibility; Fear is overcome through achievement and so begins the journey of endeavouring to create our dreams.
When will it get done?
In September 2015 we will register Circles of Life as a Non-Profit Organisation and begin the planning of the December 2015 flow holiday programme in the Imizamo Yethu community
In 2016 we will begin the weekly classes in the selected school to run for the whole year through to the flow camp in December 2016 for the students of the weekly classes.
During 2016 we will raise awareness and funds to expand the programme and realize our dream.
Why support us?
We have been working with students from under-resourced communities for the past 3 years through partnerships with other NPOs.
With the power of funding we can take this to the next level and begin to truly impact the lives of children and youth in a committed and meaningful way.
Thank you, and may the Flow be with YOU!
