We are a group of students at Cambridge University who have been sailing together for around two years. During that time we have trained hard, beaten Oxford in two Varsity races and won a third and a fourth place in the annual Student Yachting Nationals. This year – for the first time in Cambridge yacht racing history – we have been selected to compete in the Student Yachting World Cup. This is happening in less than a month in La Baule (France) on J/80s – boats that half of us haven’t set a foot on until ten days ago. We have started our intense training for the event and have already scored a very promising fourth place in the J/80 Nationals. Now we need your help to train even harder, to pay for the registration fees and to actually get us sailors to France.
We are counting on your support to share the financial burden of this fantastic opportunity to represent England at the Student Yachting World Cup and to race not only against the top teams from around 10 countries, but also against a team from Oxford. As a reward for your support, you will become part of our team and receive personal in-depth updates about our training and the races during the main event. You are also extremely welcome to meet us at our trainings, at the event in France, or in Cambridge. As a thank you for especially generous pledges, we have set up a number of personal gifts and rewards that you can choose from – ranging from a signed Cambridge University Yacht Club burgee to a weekend of racing with our team in the Sunsail F40 Racing Series in the Solent.
Thanks a lot!
