The Tamil people of Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon by the British, and Eelam by the Tamils) live predominantly on the north and east of the island. They also live in other parts of the island and all over the world as a diaspora. The Eelam Tamil community shares a common history, tradition, culture, language, sense of homeland – and a love of cricket.
