Brick Work the Board Game: Create, Collect, Build: The quick brick building, dice rolling, worker placement board game.

iCrowdNewswire - Sep 19, 2015

Brick Work is the quick brick building, dice rolling, worker placement board game for 2 players ages 9+ that takes between 15 and 30 minutes to play.

To begin the game, players CREATE objects — called brickprints — using yellow bricks.

Each round, players take turns placing dice onto the game board to COLLECT bricks of their own color (red or blue), connect bricks, and manipulate die rolls.

The first player to BUILD both brickprints again, using bricks of their own color, is the winner!

Each copy of Brick Work includes:

  • 1 game board,
  • 2 player cards,
  • 4 yellow six-sided dice,
  • 20 yellow KAZI building bricks,
  • 21 red KAZI building bricks,
  • 21 blue KAZI building bricks,
  • 6 black KAZI building bricks for +/- tokens,
  • 6 advanced rule cards,
  • 1 rulebook, and
  • 1 game box.

Brick Work combines the joy of brick building with creativity, puzzle solving, and modern game mechanisms. It’s easy to learn and surprisingly deep: perfect for both gamers and families.

CREATIVITY

Players build the goals of the game — the brickprints — at the beginning of every game. Be creative; you’re free to build whatever you like!

You can build a bit of strategy into your brickprint, but so can your opponent. And because a player must rebuild both brickprints to win, everyone starts on a level playing field.

PUZZLE SOLVING

Each brickprint is a miniature puzzle for you to solve:

  • Which bricks were used?
  • Can you build it with different bricks, and will that be more efficient?
  • How many pips will you need to connect, and in what order?
  • How can you best use the dice available to you?

You will be shocked by how much strategy goes into rebuilding your miniature masterpieces!

BRICK BUILDING, DICE ROLLING, WORKER PLACEMENT

At the beginning of a round, all four dice are rolled then players take turns. Each turn, you choose one die and place it on an action space on the game board. The action spaces allow you to collect bricks, connect or disconnect bricks in your collection, or manipulate die rolls.

Place a die with 3 pips to collect a brick with 3 pips.
Place a die with 3 pips to collect a brick with 3 pips.

The pips on the dice correspond directly to the pips on the bricks:

  • COLLECT a brick with pips equal to a die,
  • BUILD by connecting a number of pips on your bricks equal to a die, or
  • DEMOLISH by disconnecting a number of pips on your bricks equal to a die.
The +/- tokens put you in control of the dice. Final +/- tokens will be black 1-pip bricks.

Even when the dice don’t roll your way, there’s something useful to do:

  • COLLECT A +/- TOKEN, allowing you to change a future die roll,
  • RETURN +/- TOKEN(S) to change a die before placing it,
  • RECYCLE brick(s) to collect brick(s) with the same total pips, or
  • BUMP a die to extend the round!
The player whose brick is on top of the turn tower (center of board) goes first each round.

A round ends when all four dice are placed on the game board. Remove the dice, flip the turn tower over to change turn order, and begin a new round!

BUMPING DICE

Action spaces are never blocked! If you place a new die on an occupied action space, the old die is BUMPED from the board, re-rolled, and returned to the dice pool.

As a result, each time a die is bumped, you — or your opponent — will get an extra turn this round. How badly do you want to take that action? Who will benefit most?

By strategically choosing when to bump — and when not to — you may be able to eke out a few extra actions over the course of the game!

WINNING THE GAME

When you have two objects in your collection: one exactly the same shape as your brickprint and one exactly the same shape as your opponent’s brickprint, the game ends immediately and you are the winner!

While your objects must be the same shape as the brickprints, you don’t have to build them with the same bricks. By thinking creatively, you can use your dice and bricks more efficiently!
