The Interstellar Club: combines fiction with fact for a wonderful blend of truth and fantasy

iCrowdNewswire - Aug 13, 2015

The Interstellar Club

As an elementary school teacher, I am crazy about fictional storie that are twisted with facts so kids to learn as they follow dynamic characters and storylines. Inspired by the concept of the movie Interstellar, I wanted to create a childrens book series involving a group of elementary students who have been chosen to find a new home for people on Earth. Through their journey, they explore the planets. asteroids and moons of our own solar system before traveling to distant star systems on a mysterious ship that was built for them. Throughout the books, the readers will be treated to hundreds of facts and information about our solar system, space in general and traveling in space. The facts will be peppered in characters speech and descriptions and each fact will be in bold and italic text, showing young readers when they are reading factual information or concepts. Their guide is the ship’s computer and it will help the characters correct some of their errors and clarify commonly misunderstood concepts. The book series is aimed at intermediate elementary school students and I plan to have at least 15 books in the series that will average about 10,000 words per book. Birdging science and literature has always been a passion of mind and I am excited to be able to begin shaping the future of Elementary Science Factual Fiction.
