Who We Are
Whisk is a new bakery opening in the Shockoe Bottom neighborhood in Richmond, VA. Focusing heavily on French technique, our menu will boast more than 20 different types of croissants, both sweet and savory, that will rotate throughout the year, plus muffins, cookies, tarts, and more!
Started as a humble booth at local farmer’s markets (under the name Sugar Baking Co.), Whisk will fulfill chef and owner Morgan Botwinick’s longtime dream of owning and operating her very own bakery. Chances are, she’ll be there anytime you stop by (seriously, anytime. Sleeping bags may be involved).
Construction is underway which means money is already flying out the door, and we need your help! We can’t wait to get our doors open and every little bit brings us one step closer to being able to serve you a hot cup of coffee with a warm, flaky croissant.
We want Whisk to be a place where friends can meet for coffee and a croissant on Saturday morning; where you can grab a gourmet sandwich to go, or sit down for a quick working lunch with a side of free wifi.
We can’t wait to become a part of such a vibrant, progressive food community in Richmond. We appreciate the incredible support we’ve received from the neighborhood and other local businesses, and are so excited to become an organization making unique contributions to Shockoe Bottom and the city of Richmond.
Why We Need Your Help
In order to offer you all of these delicious buttery flaky pastries, we need an oven to bake them in! The money raised through this campaign will help us purchase the double stack gas convection oven that will be at the center of our kitchen! Our kitchen will be an open one, viewable by our customers, so once we’re open, you can come say hello to the behemoth you helped us buy (and maybe help pick out a name?!)
