Education for Impact: Funding a 1-year Masters in Oxford
Onabola, an admitted Oxford student, fundraises to support a one-year Masters which she describes as exorbitant as invaluable
Onabola is enthusiastic about the challenge to study at the University of Oxford. Earlier this year, she made a successful application to Wolfson College of the University of Oxford to study for MSc. in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation, beginning in October 2015. She hopes to explore in more depth the areas of Impact Evaluation for Social Interventions, with a particular interest in randomized evaluation methodology in social intervention research in the arena of population health. She is currently raising funds via a reward-based crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to pay for graduate school. She is set to raise £36805, which is an equivalent of $57501. Her campaign page – ‘Education for Impact: Funding a 1-Year Masters’ can be found here: http://igg.me/at/gethertooxford/x/9920028
Onabola says:
“I am interested in the advanced study of evidence-based strengthening of social interventions with emphasis on how to make the biggest possible impact that will resonate with development donors and policymakers. My time on this program will provide a lens through which I can view and systematically review development interventions and donor-aided programs, ask better questions around challenges in improving program performance and outcomes in specific settings or populations.”
She currently works on the DFID-funded Partnership for Transforming Health Systems II (PATHS2) program in Nigeria as a Monitoring and Evaluation/HMIS Consultant and has technical capacities in research, monitoring and evaluation of reproductive health programmes.
