Archived: A-Bike Electric: The lightest and most compact electric bike – The A-Bike Electric is the lightest and most compact electric bike. It folds in seconds to transform your journey

iCrowdNewswire - Jul 23, 2015

The A-Bike Electric is the world’s lightest and most compact electric bike. Its telescopic design means it can be folded to fit into any journey. The electric power assistance makes riding easy and keeps you going for up to 15 miles (25 km).

The A-Bike Electric is great for those that want to have more freedom and fun on their daily journeys.

Get there faster, save space and arrive in a good mood.

Designed in the UK

The original A-Bike concept was led by British inventor Sir Clive Sinclair. We’ve taken the same durable, light and compact telescopic design and made it electric!

 Why the A-Bike Electric?

Freedom to go

There’s no need to wait, just transform the A-Bike Electric and it’s ready for you in less than 10 seconds. No more delays waiting for public transport, arrive on time and happy.

Take it with you

Don’t worry about theft or having to find space in the bike park. Being light and compact means you can easily carry it and tuck it away when you need to.

It’s convenient to carry on all forms of public transport, saves space at home or work and easily fits under tables in coffee shops.

Feels easy and effortless

Just start pedalling and the power assistance automatically kicks in to do the hard work for you. Clever sensors detect when you’re slowing down, on a hill for example, and automatically provide more power assistance when you need it. Go further and get there faster. Take on hills. No sweat!

Stay clean

With other folding bikes it’s difficult to avoid getting bike chain grease on your hands and clothes. The A-Bike Electric has an enclosed bike chain that means you don’t get dirty.

A-Bike Electric features

It’s Electric!

The lightweight detachable quick charge 24V battery can take you up to 15 miles (25 km) which makes it great for both commuters and joyriders. Powering up for your next ride is simple. Leave the battery in the bike, or if you prefer take it out to charge somewhere else. There’s no need to worry if the battery runs out as you can always still ride it like a normal bike.

Simple but clever battery

The red power button has a simple one click action to turn on or off the electric motor so you can choose when you want power assistance. Four LEDs display how much power you have left so you know how far you can go before needing to recharge. You don’t need any special tools to take off the battery, the quick release strap means you can conveniently remove it for hassle free charging.

It’s not just light, it’s the lightest!

The heavier the bike the more effort you need to get it going. Using aircraft grade aluminium and high-strength glass-reinforced polymers we’ve made the A-Bike Electric lightweight without compromising on durability. This makes A-Bike Electric feel light when you’re on and off it.

It’s easy to carry so giving you more freedom to go where you want. Take it upstairs and use shortcuts to get there even quicker.

Telescopic design that fits into your journey

The A-Bike Electric’s telescopic design means you can transform it in less than 10 seconds to save space whenever you need it. Take it on the train, in a taxi and the bus. Being compact means that when you arrive you can carry it in with you.

Save space at home by tucking it away behind the sofa or in a cupboard. It’s easy to take with you into work or even a cafe too.

Dual chain-drive and brushless motor

You might think that having smaller wheels requires more effort but our engineering means a normal and easy pedalling action. The dual chain drive has been optimised so that the rate of pedalling matches the rate the wheels turn, this makes riding A-Bike Electric feel like riding any other bike.

The brushless motor optimally housed in the front wheel gives your legs an easier ride. Start pedalling and feel the bike do the work for you. Clever sensors detect when you’re slowing down, on a hill for example, and automatically provide more power assistance when you need it.

Easy to adjust seat

The durable quick release bike seat clamp means you can easily personalise the height for different riders. It’s really convenient for when you’re on the go and want to make the A-Bike Electric even more compact.

Why so compact?

Made to feel and work like any other bike

Is it easy to fold and unfold?

Sure! It’s designed to be folded and unfolded in less than 10 seconds. Your A-Bike Electric comes with a simple step by step guide to get you up to speed and riding in no time.

The wheels are small – is it easy to ride?

If you can ride a bike, you can ride A-Bike Electric! The dynamically geared dual chain system means you pedal at the same rate as you would on a full sized bike. The electric motor automatically kicks it to make pedalling feel effortless.

We don’t recommend riding it on bumpy terrain but it’s ideal to ride on roads in your city.

What about maintenance and repairs?

Maintaining your A-Bike Electric is simple. Included with your bike is a detailed user manual that shows you how to keep it in top condition. It also shows you how to repair most problems yourself. If you don’t want to get your hands dirty than any bike repair shop will be able to help. You’ll also be able to send it to our team of specialists to repair.

The story

The original idea was dreamt up by British inventor Sir Clive Sinclair. His vision was to challenge peoples opinions on bikes. The mission was to create a bike considerably lighter and more compact than anything else on the market.

Sir Clive teamed up with product designer Alex Kalogroulis to produce the A-Bike. Together they made an innovational lightweight folding bike ideal for multi-transport commuter travel and people who had limited space. The telescopic A-Bike design won awards from London to Tokyo and featured in London’s Design Museum.

A-Bike Electric Ltd have worked with Alex to make the A-Bike even easier to ride by making it electric. Now we’re on Kickstarter seeking your support to take A-Bike further.

We’re excited as we believe it will encourage more people to take up cycling on their daily journeys. The A-Bike Electric makes it so much easier to ride and go further, faster. We’re looking forward to more people being happier and having fun on their daily journeys.
