On Thursday, May 7th, 2015 the lives of the members of River Woods Co-op family changed forever. A huge fire engulfed one of our buildings and left 74 people without a home and only the clothes on their backs.
We have been overwhelmed by the output of caring and generosity of our community and local businesses in terms of immediate support of clothing, food etc.
Many of the families will need temporary accommodation for many months to come and this will have significant financial impact.
We now need to support the victims to get re-established in temporary homes and to rebuild their lives. We are therefore asking for your help to raise the much needed funds to enable this to happen as quickly as possible.
Here is a story about the fire in the North Shore News: http://www.nsnews.com/news/fire-tears-through-north-vancouver-apartment-complex-1.1929425. The News also provided an updateon May 15: http://www.nsnews.com/news/help-pouring-in-for-north-vancouver-families-displaced-by-fire-1.1936442
