Team, we started this fund to assist one of our own.
Adam has contacted us and has thanked us for what we are doing.
He has however added clarity to what has occurred, and has asked that if we can, we donate the money raised to a charity which helped another officer who sadly lost his battle with cancer.
the message is below,
To everyone who has contributed so far, words cannot describe how moved and touched I am with this. I only found out about this page today and it has made me realise that the ’police family’ is still alive and well despite what I’ve had to go through these last 15 months. However it would be wrong of me to accept this money. I didn’t have to sell my car whilst this case was ongoing, this has been misreported by the newspaper concerned. If any contributors would like their money returned in light of this then I would completely understand. In March this year though my sergeant, PS 404 Ian ’Harry’ Spence of North Yorkshire Police, died of cancer aged just 52 years old. He had over twenty years good service. He received wonderful treatment in his final days at the Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope near Keighley. If the administrators and contributors of this fundraising page agree then I would love for that money to go to the hospice to help fund the wonderful work they do. Once again, many heartfelt thanks to you all – PC Adam Steventon.
