Lizzy is a 14 year old Fort Collins student battling her third round of stage 4 Ewing’s Sarcoma. Three days after celebrating her one year cancer-free anniversary, Lizzy tearfully reported to her mother that she was having headaches…..for several months. She was just hoping to be ok. Scans showed a tumor: outside, through and within her skull. Lizzy is fighting with her family at her side. It takes a toll on her, her parents and her siblings.
U2 is the family’s favorite band and they were so excited that Denver would be a stop on the band’s concert tour – until they discovered the cost of the tickets. But who could be more deserving of a night out with Bono than Lizzy and her family? Together we got them to that concert and helped to create memories of a lifetime. They not only met the band members, they also hung out with Peyton Manning for good measure! Thank you to everyone that made that happen for the Lawton’s but… they still need your help.
Lizzy’s been fighting cancer since 2010 and her treatments don’t come cheaply. Meredith has never asked for financial help instead she’s quietly struggling to pay overwhelming medical bills. We’d like to take away that worry for Meredith and allow her to concentrate all her energies on Lizzy’s health instead. An evening with U2 gave this family a night off from cancer but we’d like to make even more of a difference in their lives. We appreciate anything you can give. No family should have to see their child so ill and this family has endured with grace and steadfastness.
You can also join us to for a benefit concert for Lizzy atO’Dell’s Brewery in Fort Collins (800 E Lincoln Ave) on June 25th from 4-6pm. Local U2 cover band TribU2 will be rockin’ it out for Lizzy. Let’s keep the U2 fun coming and band together again! All proceeds will go towards offsetting medical expenses.
Thank you for making a difference in the world.
