Ghandi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” The Creative Activist book is a toolbox to help you do just that. Donating to this campaign means contributing not just to the book, but to building a greater culture of activism. Becoming part of a community of change makers who are dedicated to using their unique talents and treasures to make a positive difference for individuals, communities, and the world.
I, Rae Luskin, am on a mission to encourage you to play and experiment, challenge boundaries, and think innovatively. To be a CREATIVE ACTIVIST, you must understand that your unique gifts, generosity, and stories can move conversations forward and inspire change. It does not matter what your job is, how much money you have, where you live, how old you are, or your challenges or circumstances—you have a sphere of influence and impact. When you are a role model, a mentor, a volunteer, you are a change agent.
Creativity and service saved my life. As a child, I was sexually abused and suffered long-term emotional and social consequences such as fear of intimacy, eating disorders, and depression to name a few. I kept it a secret for years. Then I went into traditional talk therapy and began to heal. But what took me from surviving to thriving was creativity and service. Writing, drawing, and painting gave me a place and a way to express the unfathomable pain I had felt for so long. Then, as I continued to heal, I used my experience to help others, and found that I felt better when I could do so. I made a choice to use my challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. The first time I told my story in public someone came up to me and told me, “You saved my life.” That was powerful. With The Creative Activist, I sought to collect inspiring, life-saving stories from thirty-six incredible, magnificent human beings who are sharing their passion and purpose and leading by example.
THE WORLD NEEDS TO HEAR YOUR VOICE AND SEE YOUR VISION.
This campaign is your opportunity to be a philanthropist. In Greek, “philanthropist” means “for the love of humanity.” Too often we feel that our individual efforts won’t make a difference so why try. Through your generous donations, we will contribute 10% of the proceeds of all book sales and this campaign to the Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault (NCASA) www.nwcasa.org.
One of the rewards for donating to this campaign is partaking in an e-course, Discover The Creative Edge: 28 Days to Better Health, Wealth and Relationships. This course will be delivered to your inbox daily for a month. In under fifteen minutes a day you will get your creative juices flowing and bring back the wonder and joy into your life. All you need is a sense of fun and adventure and a willingness to play. No artistic experience needed.
Another reward for this book is partaking in the very first Creative Activist Retreat: Be the Change You Wish to See on September 25, 2015. It will be an intimate and exclusive creative, fun, inspiring experience for sixty individuals wanting to make the world a better place. The retreat will be a gathering place for likeminded people to find true partners in believing. It is your opportunity to move beyond your fears and self-doubt to become the change you want to see in the world. This retreat being held at Catalyst Ranch in Chicago has everything you need to experience more joy, happiness, and fulfillment as you step into a life of service.
