Relaunch of a magazine for anyone passionate about trees, woodlands and making or using timber or wood-related products & services.
The magazine had been alive and well and thriving for six years when in June 2014 owner and editor Nick Gibbs (in cover photo of latest issue) was knocked off his bicycle and ended up in a coma for 10 days. He quickly made a remarkable recovery, physically, but has had to come to terms with an injury to the front temporal lobe of his brain, where many of the functions of an editor (organisation, concentration, decision-making, communication, etc…) are performed. His company, Freshwood Publishing, has suspended publication of other magazines which rely upon Nick, and as a result have lost considerable revenue over the last 10 months.
Nick is trying to bring Living Woods back to life, and we have published one issue, just out early in May. We need funds to pay printers, the Royal Mail, contributors and admin/sales staff so that the magazine can get going again, while Nick and Freshwood wait for the losses to be repaid by the driver’s insurance company. We have more than 2000 subscribers already, are looking for help to raise £5000 for security and marketing in the short term, which compensation will eventually pay back.
