The Kiln Rooms is a new open access ceramics studio, based in Peckham Rye. Supporting members by providing a professional working environment, a range of equipment, classes and expert technical support.
Membership
The affordable communal studio will allow members to grow within a community of makers. Artists and experienced hobbyists will be challenged to progress through the professional development programme. We will provide accessible information on all aspects of professional practice and organise a range of lectures and talks from invited guests. Alongside practical advice members will be encouraged to sell their work, through the Summer Show and Christmas Sale.
Members will be able to use the studio up to 18 hours per week. We will limit membership numbers to ensure that the studio is never too busy. Everyone will have a personal storage area alongside communal storage and have free access to our in house glazes and kiln usage. For more information and opening times please visit our website.
This strong sense of community will also extend to evening classes where people of all abilities are welcome to sign up.
Classes
These sessions will be held in the class area of The Kiln Rooms, where we often share a bottle of wine and like to create a comfortable, fun environment for everyone to enjoy. People of all abilities are welcome to sign up as we will tailor to everyone’s capabilities. You will be encouraged to work on projects which will help develop different techniques of hand building, mold work, throwing, decorating and glazing. Personal projects are also encouraged. The courses will run in 12 week blocks of 3 hour sessions.
Stuart will also be running an In-Road Course for beginners who are keen to become members. These will run for 6 consecutive weeks and each session will consist of 4 hours intensive teaching through demonstrations and repetition. Upon completion you will get one month’s membership to The Kiln Rooms where you can continue working on projects with onsite technical assistance.
Location
We have just secured a beautiful old industrial style studio split over two floors, with huge skylights on the roof. Copeland Park and the Bussey Building make up a complex which is now home to a wide range of artist studios and creative hubs. This thriving artistic community is buzzing with life and is under 200 meters from Peckham Rye station. Link to map

Support
We’re currently in the process of setting up the studio which is our biggest expense. With your support we can turn an empty space into a ceramics studio that’s both efficient and welcoming.
You can sign up for membership or classes today through Crowdfunder. This will guarantee you a place at a reduced rate and will also help us create the perfect environment for you to work in. You can also support us through smaller donations and help this ceramic studio become a reality.
