Inspired by the killing of unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO., I began writing The Eye of the Panther in September of 2014. This is a work of fiction. My intentions are NOT to portray non-violent movements in a positive way. Instead, I want to show the world that if non-violent efforts continue to go ignored, the potential for a violent movement is likely to happen.
In light of recent events, the controversy in this novel hits close to home. This may cause many publishing houses to reject my story or require major changes, which I could never do. I have to stay true to myself. Part of that, is ensuing I have complete control over my work. Therefore, I will be going the self-publishing route for The Eye of the Panther.
In addition to my freelance writing, I work full-time to cover business expenses. However, it isn’t enough to cover the entirety of publishing expenses. I’ve chosen to enlist assistance from Pubslush to help me raise money to successfully publish my first novel.
Eye of the Panther is complete; I have recently purchased the book cover design using funds I acquired with my freelance work.
There are still several things that needs get done; a professional edit is still required. I also need help with the manuscripts’ format, set-up fee for on demand book printing, online and direct marketing, as well as purchasing the legal necessities such as a copyright, ISBN, etc.
Once all aspects of publishing are complete, Eye of the Panther will be available in print and in e-book format through Amazon Kindle, Nook, and iBook.
My goal is travel to different universities and events to host book readings and signings to help with the promotion of the book.
Thank you for your donations and contributing to the success of The Eye of the Panther.
