Extending the RISC-V ecosystem with end-to-end formal verification capabilities
LONDON, UK. –– 6 January 2021 –– Axiomise® joined RISC-V International, a non-profit, corporation driving the adoption of the open-specification RISC-V instruction set architecture.
Axiomise has been involved in pioneering unique automated formal verification solutions for verifying RISC-V implementations. The Axiomise formal proof kit that powers the next-generation formalISA® app launched in 2020 has already been used to verify multiple RISC-V cores such as the CV32E40P from the OpenHW group recently, and the ibex and 0riscy cores in 2019, with exhaustive proofs of bug absence and corner case bug hunting within minutes.
“We welcome Axiomise to the RISC-V ecosystem as a Strategic member. Axiomise brings their strong focus on vendor-neutral formal verification methodology and tools that are widely applicable for the verification of RISC-V designs and we look forward to their collaboration and contribution.”, says Calista Redmond, CEO of RISC-V International.
The unique feature of the Axiomise solution is its vendor-neutral, methodology powered by abstraction-based proof kit and a first-of-its-kind scenario coverage solution. Whereas, the proof kit provides powerful performance generating almost 100% proof convergence on complex cores, and catching design bugs, the coverage solution provides the ability to visualize and prove the functional scenarios of interest exhaustively using any formal verification tool.
The formalISA® app allows anyone without any formal verification experience to start using formal property checking with a simple push of a button, to verify the entire RISC-V core end-to-end, saving several man-months of development time and effort.
“In the RISC-V ecosystem, everyone can reap the benefits of formal verification without getting locked into any specific tool vendor, thereby truly achieving verification independence in the same way the RISC-V ISA provides independence from any proprietary architecture”, says Dr. Ashish Darbari, founder & CEO of Axiomise.
Dr. Darbari will talk to Calista Redmond in the first Axiomise podcast of 2021. Tune in to listen tomorrow at axiomise.com/podcasts.
