For years it has been argued that teachers do not make enough money. Teachers who have felt that they are underpaid either go on strike or leave the field altogether. For those teachers and teachers who have left the education field, technology now allows us to create alternative ways to use our knowledge and not let your degree go to waste. Online courses are a new wave that has been heavily trending as a way to make money to supplement what’s missing on your bank account. Hosting Platform

Before you can start creating and uploading your knowledge unto an online course first you need to join a hosting site. When a web hosting site is a company that rents out their services and certain technologies for companies to use and showcase their company off of. It gives space to those companies to share files, photos, videos, or audio presentations on the domain. Some popular hosting that people use to host online courses are Teachable, Skillshare, Thinkific, and Udemy. Some of these domains allow you to post courses that you’ve already created or create the course right there on the hosting site.

Video Editor

Whether the person learning from you will see you or you have created visuals using other people and objects, chances are high that you are going to be creating videos for your course. Otherwise, your course will seem like a Powerpoint presentation. Since you will use video for visuals you will need a video editor. Video editing software or apps allow you to change and manipulate anything in the video that you don’t like or want to make more engaging. Some popular video editing tools are Final Cut Pro, Vimeo, or Adobe Premier Pro.

Another tool that you can use to connect with your students in the course is text-to-speech tools. If you don’t like your voice, have speech issues, or just simply don’t want to sound monotone you can use this tool to provide audio in your course. Text-to speech works simply by you typing in your lesson, speech, or whatever you want to say in your course and the software will convert the text into a voice. Text to voice software companies like Notevibes, Amazon Polly, or Voice Reader Home allows you to choose the gender of your voice, the speed in which it talks, and the tone. Also if you are creating a course in a different language or perhaps teaching a language text- to- speech software allows you to choose from a wide array of languages to choose from.

With either of these tools and a few more, you can create any course you choose creating a source of income that can have you making money in your sleep. You don’t have to settle with the idea of being an underpaid educator.
