MIAMI (July 7, 2023) – Jeanne K. Spital – a Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated attorney who has handled cases involving personal injury/torts, professional liability, products liability, construction defect, contractual disputes and copyright – recently launched her full-time mediation practice with Upchurch Watson White & Max.
As a Florida civil litigator, she has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts, becoming a partner at a boutique firm and then of counsel to a large statewide firm. Negotiating was a necessity in her caseload.
“Jeanne Spital’s practice experience reflects the quality and sophistication we seek to offer our clients through our panel of distinguished neutrals,” John Upchurch, UWWM’s CEO, said. “We are delighted she has elected to join our team, and our clients are indeed fortunate to have the opportunity to utilize her skills in resolving their cases.”
Ms. Spital began her career in Maryland’s Office of the Attorney General after graduating from the University of Maryland School of Law and has enjoyed helping clients as an attorney ever since. She hopes to continue helping by finding a path for all parties in a lawsuit to resolve conflicts that rob them of their ability to focus on other aspects of their lives. “Mediation provides the parties an opportunity to control their own destiny through innovative and practical solutions without the cost and uncertainty of trial,” she says. She credits her years as an avid tennis player with helping her to understand the competitive spirit that can be an obstacle and prevent attorneys and clients from altering their positions.
She and her husband make their home in Miami and have two children, who grew up in Pinecrest, and three young grandchildren. When her children were younger, she co-founded the village’s premier soccer club and helped grow the club from 25 players to 600 players. “Serving as vice-president of Pinecrest Premier Soccer, as in many youth sports, required intense negotiation skills to work with parents, coaches and players,” she says.
Ms. Spital is also a professional speaker who has been chosen to address many national and local medical conventions regarding risk management, avoiding medical malpractice/professional liability and “what to do if you are sued.” She also has taught risk-management courses for nurses.
Case manager Heidi Cohen is currently booking dates for Ms. Spital, who mediates statewide by Zoom or in person. For details or scheduling, please inquire at hcohen@uww-adr.com or (800) 863-1462, or schedule online at Jeanne K. Spital (uww-adr.com).
