When the City of Selma, CA, was in dire need of updated technology, it partnered with OpenGov, the leader in modern cloud ERP software for our nation’s cities, on a digital permitting and licensing solution.
Known as “The Raisin Capital of the World,” the City, located in California’s Central Valley, took little advantage of modern technological solutions. So, when officials decided to take the plunge with a technology partner, they started by releasing an RFP for digital permitting and licensing. With three finalists in running, OpenGov Citizen Services emerged as the new partner, scoring 33% higher than its competitors.
OpenGov Citizen Services gives the City the capability to manage all permitting and licensing operations online. Now, residents can apply for building permits, pet licenses, special event permits, and more through an online portal that walks them through a short survey to ensure they obtain the necessary forms and pay related fees. The City also has the ability to completely automate license renewals to boost compliance and increase efficiency. With more business done online, Community Development staff will have fewer walk-ins, giving them more time to focus on strategic initiatives. Plus, applicants can apply for a permit any time, from anywhere.
The City of Selma joins more than 1,000 public sector organizations leveraging OpenGov to revolutionize work processes with cloud-based software designed specifically for the needs of government.
