New Orleans, La.: The 5th annual National Women in Roofing conference concluded a successful 2022 session with their annual WORLD Award announcements. The WORLD Award (Woman of Outstanding Roofing Leadership Distinction) honors women in the roofing industry who are not only outstanding leaders in their professional life, but also in their personal life and community.
The WORLD Award, established in 2020, was developed to recognize outstanding women with over 10 years of service, who have paved a path of leadership and professionalism for women in the roofing industry, women in the NWiR organization, and service to their local communities. Past WORLD Award recipients include Heidi Ellsworth (Roofers Coffeeshop), founder of NWiR (2020), Christine Mockenhaupt, regional operations controller, SRS Corporation (2021), who introduced Michelle Boykin, COO, Rackley Roofing, as the 2022 WORLD Award Veteran recipient out of a field of 7 outstanding roofing industry leaders.
Michelle exudes a determination to push herself to limits others deem as impossible. By stepping outside of her comfort zone, she has pioneered and paved the way for women who follow her to continue empowering other women in the roofing industry through the positive, encouraging environment she has created at Rackley Roofing. She exemplifies the true meaning of “team player” through recruitment, promotion and motivations for others to develop their personal and professional qualities for a more successful future.
Michelle has the confidence to introduce new ideas and technology for her company, team and colleagues to work smarter and has dedicated herself to transforming the roofing industry through her work with NWiR and Roofing Technology Think Tank. She is a sought-after panelist for industry discussions with RT3, Roofers Coffeeshop, Cotney Consultants, the International Roofing Expo, and the National Association of Women in Construction. In 2019 she was recognized by roofing contractor magazine as one of the industry’s “Young Guns”.
She has served on the NWiR board of directors as recruiting chair, national sponsor liaison, mentorship liaison, and community service liaison. Her involvement with the Purple Purse Foundation in conjunction with YWCA and Allstate Insurance led to her local Tennessee NWiR council’s adoption of a domestic violence shelter in Nashville. She will take over as NWiR national chair in February 2022.
Her service to her local community is evident as an active member of the Journey Church. With over 10 years of service to the Bridge Fellowship Church, Michelle has led life groups, assisted new member transitions and participated in mission trips to Sierra Leon, Africa. Dedicated to her family, Michelle is the mother of two sons whom she actively supports on the soccer field, at school and at home. A hearty congratulations to the 2022 WORLD Award Veteran, Michelle Boykin.
