The City of Melissa, TX, has partnered with OpenGov, the leader in modern cloud ERP software for our nation’s cities, counties, and state agencies, to help it manage exponential growth and increase staff efficiency.
The City, located just outside of Dallas, experienced a nearly 200% population increase between 2010 and 2020—a phenomenon that led to the City issuing 850 new residential home building permits between October 2020 and July 2021. To help manage the corresponding growth of the City’s budget, leaders knew they needed to move away from their cumbersome legacy government budgeting software and began a partnership with OpenGov for its Budgeting & Planning software. With OpenGov, City staff will no longer spend hours preparing, formatting, and reworking budget reports. The new budgeting process will increase efficiencies, giving staff time to focus on decision-making and strategy.
OpenGov Budgeting & Planning will allow department heads to collaborate more effectively when building budgets in one easy-to-use, end-to-end system. Formatting and reformatting reports will be a thing of the past with the centralized reporting system that updates automatically with each input. The reporting function also reveals insights behind budget performance outcomes, allowing for better planning and forecasting as the City continues to grow.
The City of Melissa joins more than 1,000 public sector organizations leveraging OpenGov to revolutionize work processes with cloud-based software designed specifically for the needs of government.
