Thrive at Jones Farm team members recognized as Nurse of the Year and Director of the Year
HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA (Nov. 4, 2021)– Thrive at Jones Farm’s Memory Care Director Sandra Chism and President Kelli Long have been named Nurse of the Year and Director of the Year by the organization Doctor Patient Medicine. Doctor Patient Medicine is a group of doctors and nurses who are passionate about geriatric care. They work with senior living communities across northern Alabama to ensure residents receive quality care with a personal touch. Annually, they recognize exceptional work in 23 communities through individualized awards that cover categories such as best director, best facility and best nurse.
Kelli Long was selected to receive the inaugural Director of the Year award for her outstanding leadership in several categories including reliability, problem-solving, communication skills and overall demeanor. Josh Barnes, owner of Doctor Patient Medicine, noted that he admired Kelli’s drive to fight for her residents and her refusal to settle in providing the best possible care for them.
Sandra Chism was selected as 2021’s Nurse of the Year for excellence in categories such as compassion, advanced decision making and accountability. While exhibiting all of those skills, Sandra also sets herself apart with passion and a willingness to go the extra mile for her residents and her team.
“Doctor Patient Medicine developed these awards to recognize exceptional care and outstanding individuals that we witness throughout the year,” said Barnes, “These two leaders embody a passion that cannot be taught or decided upon. They truly exemplify the ‘resident first’ attitude that defines Doctor Patient Medicine and Thrive Senior Living.”
Thrive’s core philosophy focuses on changing the way aging and senior living are viewed, while highlighting the principle that people don’t leave environments where they are truly known. Thrive believes this feeling of truly being “known” is essential to a positive human experience. The company and its communities take extensive measures to ensure all team members see residents as human beings rather than individuals in need of care. This latest recognition of two of its team members reflects this philosophy in action.
