London – October 28th, 2021, Thingthing Ltd, the deep tech startup behind the popular AI keyboard, Fleksy, has reportedly raised a 1.6 million USD Series A round to fuel its developments and growth of the Fleksy keyboard SDK: a development kit that helps businesses worldwide quickly build a white-label keyboard.
For the past 14 months only, the European company has already licensed its technology to dozens of companies, helping them forget about the steep curve of developing a virtual keyboard from scratch.
Led by Inveready, the new cash also includes follow-ons from existing investors SOSV and Simile Venture Partners. The funds will be mainly used to support the company’s rapid growth & operations with new hires as well as expand their portfolio of clients.
Performance-wise, in a market where giant incumbents have left providing an SDK to other businesses, Fleksy’s SDK product has multiplied its revenue figures by 10 in just over 1 year. Yes, that’s 10x what they were making just 1 year ago. Olivier, CEO says: “I’m so proud of the team’s performance. We’re already helping a growing number of clients who look for the best typing technology as well as an established technology provider” “Our clients know Fleksy as one of the most loved virtual keyboards for smartphones and they are reassured their end product will be just as loved”
Ignacio Fonts, who is joining the company’s board, says: “We are thrilled to join the Fleksy team, which has been able to conquer a worldwide leadership position in keyboard technology, one of the control points of personal computing (phone, mobile, desktops) devices. This round will help them accelerate the development of a very compelling roadmap that will unveil to users new ways to interact with their devices and will provide companies new insights about their customers.”
The company is also launching its new offering called “Fleksy for business” focused on businesses, showcasing the SDK’s large breadth of capabilities geared toward businesses looking to build a reliable and feature-rich virtual keyboard. Olivier adds: “The math is simple, building a virtual keyboard costs millions and for anyone in the process of evaluating or building a keyboard from scratch, buying a license from us is a no-brainer”
Existing clients are coming from various industries such as Education, Productivity, Healthcare, Gaming, CyberSafety, CyberSecurity and more. Olivier adds: “Our vision is to provide outstanding input experiences across any type of screen and the new funding will just do that — Fleksy is always on-key when it comes to custom solutions for every vertical.”
In short, every screen you can imagine requires you to type at some point and Fleksy wants to power them all. “With over 50 companies in our pipeline, we are clearly onto something big and by analogy, our purpose is like building the bicycle that enables an athlete to win the Olympics — where our SDK is the bike, the athletes are our clients. It feels good to be at the center of value creation”
