Johnsonville Launches Tongsman Contest
The #JohnsonvilleTongsmanContest asks fans to show off their sausage & grilling skills for chance to compete in a grill-off event and attend the 2021 SEC Championship Game in Atlanta
SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. (September 27, 2021) – There are Grillmasters and there are Tongsmen: the proudest of the proud carnivores whose level of tailgating and grilling wisdom knows no bounds and recognizes that no grill is complete without sausage.
This fall, Johnsonville is searching for the best Tongsmen in the South through its Titanium Tongsman Contest. Between now and Oct 31, 2021, consumers are asked to share a photo or video to Instagram or Twitter using #JohnsonvilleTongsmanContest, showing off how they make room on the grill for Johnsonville sausage. Is it a favorite sausage recipe? Elite tong-flipping skills? Or maybe just a variety of sausages on the grill?
After the contest ends on Oct. 31, Johnsonville will choose two finalists to compete in a live cook-off event with Johnsonville before the Dec. 4 SEC Championship game in Atlanta. Each finalist will be paired with a celebrity chef – either 7-time world BBQ champion and restaurateur Melissa Cookston or Chef Richard Ingraham, cookbook author and personal chef to Dwayne and Gabrielle Wade and other athletes. The two Tongsmen finalists will battle it out grilling their favorite sausage-based recipe in a 30-minute contest in hopes of being crowned the Titanium Tongsman!
The grand prize-winning Tongsman will win a new Pit Boss grill, a year’s supply of Johnsonville Sausage, grilling accessories and swag, and a custom set of titanium tongs. The two finalists selected to join Johnsonville on Dec. 4 for the live cook-off event with Melissa Cookston and Richard Ingraham, will also receive a pair of tickets to the SEC Championship game, a $1,000 travel voucher, lodging for two nights and a Tongsman swag bag.
