The Hydrogen Americas Summit, which took place June 8–11, 2021, featured speakers who are pioneers in the field of hydrogen. Among those speakers was the founder of ZeroAvia, Val Miftakhov. The summit provides a strong platform for decision makers and world experts in the production of hydrogen, as well as its application and technology. Gathering people from the entire hydrogen infrastructure chain is an important part of what the summit has to offer.
The Hydrogen Americas Summit is unparalleled in allowing companies access to resources and mentors with whom they might not otherwise interact. That can allow any business interested in hydrogen as a renewable energy option to secure information about the tools and contacts that it will need to advance its goals and focus on its future. A company interested in hydrogen fuel technology, such as ZeroAvia, has much to learn and much to offer at a gathering like this one.
Miftakhov shared his knowledge about the industry and addressed the goals and plans of his company for the future of hydrogen-electric commercial aircraft. While the summit took place virtually this year, international leaders in the hydrogen space shared information with one another, as well as companies interested in the future uses of hydrogen in their fields and industries. Four days of valuable insight exchange, along with the creation and fostering of many business relationships, was all part of what the Hydrogen Americas Summit had to offer.
With so many professionals in the hydrogen industry speaking about their companies and experiences, Miftakhov was honored to be among the people who had a voice at the summit. As he has been in the EV space for the majority of his career, he had much to offer to those who were just getting started or may not be sure how much their company can move toward using hydrogen based on their current, available resources.
The Hydrogen Americas Summit was also a place for sharing celebrations and achievements, which Miftakhov and many others did as they talked about what their companies have accomplished. Collaboration and innovation are important parts of the hydrogen industry, and another summit will take place in 2022. There were more than 70 speakers at the 2021 Hydrogen Americas Summit and hours of virtual networking and presentations. There are options available until July 8 to watch it on demand.
In addition to the networking opportunities, there were 14 panels rich with information. Miftakhov and other speakers provided insight for the industry and examined more of what hydrogen has to offer to the world of business. The attendees discussed timely and topical issues surrounding hydrogen, along with politics, public-private partnership issues, financing, and regulations for the hydrogen revolution. ZeroAvia and Miftakhov continue to make their mark in the industry.
Experts have discussed and considered hydrogen as a renewable energy source for some time. But only over the last few years has it become as significant as it has in large industries such as transportation. Companies like ZeroAvia are changing the game by providing hydrogen-electric powertrains to commercial aircraft. It is not yet possible to power larger aircraft this way, but Miftakhov and his team are finding more opportunities and expanding their capabilities quickly.
His experience is unique to aviation, but not unique to powering things with hydrogen. As a renewable fuel, hydrogen may well be what takes industries like aviation into the future. Miftakhov and ZeroAvia are committed to providing value for the commercial aircraft space, along with addressing any issues and risks that can come with hydrogen-electric powertrain options. The company has already developed technology that was successful on its first test flight and has moved on to working on bigger projects.
With Miftakhov’s appearance at the Hydrogen Americas Summit, he showcased what his company offers and focused on the opportunities for hydrogen-electric powertrains in the future. More companies and industries than ever before are showing interest in using hydrogen for fuel, and ZeroAvia is a company that is already doing that successfully.
ZeroAvia is an aircraft and aircraft-engine company focused on the production of hydrogen-electric powertrains for commercial aircraft. The company is working toward zero-emission powertrains that are practical and efficient in an industry where the carbon footprint is significant. The targeted aircraft carry between 9 and 19 passengers, or a similarly sized amount of cargo. ZeroAvia has tested aircraft with hydrogen-electric powertrains and is working on an aircraft that will fly using this renewable energy for a distance of up to 500 miles. Founded in 2017, the company has headquarters in both the U.S. and the U.K.
The company’s most recent project in development is the HyFlyer II, which will reach the projected 500-mile range for hydrogen-electric flight. The plane will be an ideal option for cargo or passengers and travel to nearby locations. By 2030, ZeroAvia has a goal to produce an aircraft that can carry up to 100 passengers and travel 1,000 miles at a time. With a development of this level, the company will help reduce both carbon emissions and noise throughout the commercial aircraft industry.
