January 1, 2021/HeraldPR/ — The Trial Structure team thrived and made incredible headway over the last quarter, which saw trials by zoom and particularly rigorous witness preparation efforts. Our consultants say the outwardly slower pace is fueling more intense behind-the-scenes prep work.
“One case dominated this quarter: a consumer fraud and breach of fiduciary duty case that was tried virtually. Despite the Zoom bench trial, Alejandro Blanco and I tried an incredibly strong case,” Ilya Lerma says. “We had very limited windows to deal with difficult witnesses but I know we utilized each other’s strengths to really put on the best case possible.”
Charles Bennett agrees, saying they’ve been able to consult on cases much earlier in the litigation process than previously.
“We’ve been able to communicate to our clients how effective Trial Structure can be in pressuring the defense in litigation—long before trial,” Bennett says. “Insurance companies are taking advantage of the pandemic to delay or make ridiculously low offers. Unfortunately, some clients are in such dire straits that they have to accept them.”
But when trials return to the courtroom, the Trial Structure consultants are ready.
“In 2021,” Bennett says, “Our goal is to get 100 lawyers in courtrooms across the country to stand up before the judge and say with Trial Structure confidence, ‘Plaintiff is ready for trial, your Honor.’”
