CHICAGO, IL., October 20, 2020 – Premier issuer-sponsored equity research firm Water Tower Research LLC has published Company Overviews on lithium producers Livent Corporation (NYSE: LTHM) and Galaxy Resources (ASX: GXY) (OTCMKTS: GALXF).
These reports focus on each company’s stated strategy, growth drivers, market position, and potential opportunities and risks.
“Lithium producers have experienced challenging conditions the past two years largely due to price declines from market oversupply and, more recently, demand reductions because of end market uncertainty created by COVID-19. However, demand for electric vehicles continues to accelerate driven by technological advances, producer cost and consumer price reductions, and government subsidies being provided in several large markets. Importantly, several major auto OEMs have announced plans to introduce or expand production of electric vehicles over the next five years, which could drive lithium prices substantially higher as battery demand increases, assuming that current battery chemistry continues to rely on lithium as a key input,” said Tyler Frank, Managing Director, Chemicals & Materials Technology at Water Tower Research.
Mr. Frank continued, “Both Livent and Galaxy are lithium pure-plays and appear to be positioned to benefit from an increase in market demand. Livent is viewed as an industry leader with a strong market position due to its low-cost brine resource in Argentina, technical expertise and conversion capacity, global footprint, and large customer base developed over the last 60 years. Galaxy is a smaller industry player currently producing lithium from a spodumene mine in Australia while also developing a high-quality brine resource in Argentina, which could allow the company to compete with larger industry producers due to the high quality and lithium concentration of the brine resource.
