Along with the world outside, the tennis tour has been experiencing weird situations over the past few months. And now, the back-to-back cancelation of tournaments doesn’t surprise the tennis fans. The lives of the lower-ranked tennis players have become miserable, as the tennis-less days have affected their livelihood. Amid the unplayable situations in the US, tennis tour will be kick-starting at Citi Open in Washington D.C. The big tournaments Cincinnati and US Open 2020 will be taking place in the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center (the usual destination for US Open) after the New York governor gave a green signal.

During the peak time of the pandemic, the tennis stadium was converted into a hospital with more than 350 beds. The city of New York has recorded more than 420k cases and as of Saturday, 24,855 people have lost their lives. Despite the scary stats, the USTA officials have decided to go ahead with the event.

Also, Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou is skeptical about the US Open taking place in New York, as the prevailing situations do not show any positive signs of holding the event.

“With what’s happening at the moment in the US, with the number of cases of COVID-19 going higher and higher every day, I don’t think that [The US Open] can happen,” Mouratoglou said.
