It is hard to name a good movie or series that was based on a video game. Many filmmakers have tried different adaptations over the years. And well, the result has mostly been the same. There have been a few that have struck the right chords. Although, this is a rare occurrence when it comes to such adaptations. However, things could change as a new Fallout TV series is in works.

Fallout, by Interplay Entertainment and Bethesda, is one of the most successful videogame series in history. The plot follows a post-apocalyptic fictional United States with an alternate history. Players will enter a world wherein there are advanced robots, nuclear-powered cars, and futuristic weapons to tackle the “Plague.”

Fallout TV Series in the making

The series was announced by Amazon Studios on Twitter. The series will air on Amazon Prime. Watch the announcement video below.

More importantly, Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonah Nolan will helm the project. This is in sync with their nine-figure deal with Amazon, according to the Hollywood reporter. Amazon has licensed the rights to the videogame franchise.

There is no writer on-board as of yet. On the other hand, it is reported that if Amazon executives should like the script first. If they do, the series will directly move to works or if not all involved will be paid.

Joy and Lisa will also be executive producers for the series alongside Athena Wickham, Todd Howard, and James Altman. The series will be in association with Bethesda Softworks and Kilter Films.

The Writers speaks

Joy and Lisa gave joint statements after the announcement of the series. The couple is excited to work on the new series.

“We’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios”

The series will not reach the screens anytime soon. Certainly, with Netflix’s recent success with Witcher, Amazon would be now looking to make their mark.
