Along with the price increase, YouTube TV is also adding eight new cable TV channels from Viacom. They include BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land, and VH1. More Viacom channels, including BET Her, MTV2, MTV Classic, Nick Jr., NickToons, and TeenNick will be added to the service sometime in the near future. It also recently added HBO Max and Cinemax as add-on channels. HBO Max costs $14.99 a month and Cinemax costs $9.99 a month.
In terms of the new and higher price, the blog post stated that Google does “realize how hard this is for our members.” However, it added that the YouTube TV price is going up because of the increased costs of adding more content to the service. Google believes that the new $64.99 monthly price is still a good value for the money. That base price includes features unlimited cloud DVR space, support for up to six profiles, and support for up to three concurrent streams per account.
If you are a current YouTube subscriber and feel that the price boost to $64.99 a month is just too much money for you to spend right now, you can cancel or pause your subscription.
