Hey! We’re so happy that you’re checking out our Kickstarter page for V!
This is a show about creativity, social media, influencer culture…and dogs. It’s a show about someone who is determined to be extraordinary and the lengths she will go to in order to achieve that ‘dream’. It turns out that her dog, Veronica, might just be her ticket to it all making sense. I mean look at her:
Everything about our society tells us that if we have a chance to become a social media influencer, we should drop everything to go for it and thank our lucky stars. I mean, look at Kombucha Girl. She drank a funky soda and now she hangs out with Tyra Banks…what? So we were wondering, who are the people behind famous internet pets? And how did that change their life? When our protagonist Christina is presented with the unlikely opportunity to be a social media influencer…for her dog…does her life actually get better? V is a story about a girl who gives up everything to be exceptional, and then she wants it back.
The creative team behind this project are filmmaker/writer/comedian Christina Parrish and content creator Ellie Main. This has been a passion project of theirs since last summer – they wrote the series together at bars where people would come up and compliment Veronica. It seemed like a sign.
The awesome Chelsea Harfoush helped us break the story; we have a very talented Director (Drew Saplin) and an experienced producer, Ben Hanks; the video you hopefully watched ;) was DP’d by the brilliant Ivy Chiu… THE POINT IS, we have awesome, talented folks on board and we want to pay them as properly as we can.
Austin is as much a character in the show as Veronica; all our crew and cast are involved in the Austin film scene and the locations are iconic establishments of this delightful ‘weird’ little city.
Our intention with this project is to sell an amazing show that taps into a part of our shared cultural anxiety, while showcasing what an incredible city Austin is in supporting its independent creatives.
Making a show and paying/providing food for awesome, talented people adds up real fast. We are doing this as low-fi as we can but we will definitely spend every penny of this on production and editorial costs. We are hoping to shoot in May, and have the project ready to show off by the end of the year.
