He feels good and will continue to anchor his 9 p.m. “Cuomo Prime Time” program from home.
“I have been exposed to people in the past few days who have tested positive, and have had a fever, chills, and difficulty breathing,” he wrote. “I just hope I didn’t give it to the kids and Cristina. That would make me feel worse than this illness!”
Cuomo said Tuesday that he was “quarantined in my basement” and would “do my shows from here.”
Governor Cuomo spoke of his brother’s positive test result at the New York State daily meeting on Tuesday.
“This virus is the big balance,” he said. “My brother Chris is positive for coronavirus. Found out this morning.”
The governor called Chris “my best friend” and added a little of the good-natured ribbing they are known for: “He is young, in good shape, strong – not as strong as he thinks, but – he will be . ” fine.”
The two brothers spoke on the phone earlier on Tuesday. “Now he’s quarantined in the basement,” said the governor. “But he’s funny as hell, he says to me, ‘Even the dogs won’t come down.’”
This is the third case of coronavirus affecting CNN’s work area in New York City. The employees were informed of another case in mid-March.
Like other media companies, CNN has made major changes in response to the pandemic. The vast majority of CNN employees have been working from home for several weeks. Anchors were broadcast from small studios and home offices. And office spaces are cleaned regularly.
