From the hosts of Monsters Among Us and Blurry Photos comes a fresh, unique project full of mystery and the unexplained.
Blurry Monsters Media is a small, independent production company started by podcasters Derek Hayes and David Flora. Their goal is to explore unique areas and stories of weird phenomena to bring you high-quality investigation and entertainment. Shadows in the Desert is a feature-length (~90 minute) documentary that will delve into the high strangeness in the “Borrego Triangle,” an area David and Derek coined that is full of anomalous phenomena including cryptids, ghosts, disappearances, and UFOs. By backing this project, you have a special opportunity to be involved in creating a memorable and important documentary about a place that’s largely remained off the map and out of the discussion in paranormal and Fortean media.
David and Derek have read and heard several accounts of high strangeness, anomalous phenomena, and chilling encounters in California’s Anza-Borrego state park. So many, in fact, it warrants exploration to find out what is going on there in the desert.
Reports of UFOs, hairy hominids, ghosts, dogmen, shambling beasts, lost treasure, and more are all located in an area David and Derek have coined “The Borrego Triangle.” Could this be a paranormal hotspot, an area where the veil is thin, where strange activity is concentrated? Back this project and come along with the boys to find out what is going on there!
Your support will go directly to making this independent documentary happen. Derek and David want to make it their way and make it excellent. The more funding they get, the better quality it will be. Travel, lodging, crew, and production costs (design, editing, distribution, etc.) are not cheap. Not to mention water, food, sunscreen, and mustache wax. The more you can give, the more they will be able to do!

Help bring this unique project to life! Back it, spread the word, reap the rewards.
Join David and Derek in their search to uncover the truth behind the strange things casting these long and ominous Shadows in the Desert.
The environment is the top risk – with proper funding, we can be better prepared to fight the elements while searching for answers under the unforgiving desert sun. Making sure we do this our way, and the right way. With this being our first documentary, it would be nice to have some cushion for the unexpected things that pop up. Getting to the area is a big factor – we absolutely need help for travel expenses getting to the location (driving and flying out to CA)
