Hi, there. My name is Janie Grace, and boy, do I have a story to tell you! It’s an epic tale, full of adventure and magical powers. Ok, not really. But, it’s still a pretty spectacular story, I think, and if it’s put into the right hands, it could very well change the world.
“Oh, the Seeds You Can Sow” is a children’s book about the power of planting just a few intentional seeds of kindness in this great big world.
Janie Grace is a spunky seven-year-old who is excited to finally get to work on her Papa’s apple orchard, but little does she know, she’s about to learn a lesson that will change her life forever. She learns that she can make a BIG difference just by offering her small “seeds” to the world.
It’s a story of compassion, courage, and even second chances.
Papa showed me the apple seeds again.
“Oh, the seeds you can sow in this world, Janie Grace, if you just look for the opportunities. Every time you say or do something kind, you are planting good seeds in someone else’s heart. You never know how far just one little seed will go.”
I smiled real big. I wasn’t sure how much of a difference just one little girl could make. I knew it was a great big world with lots and lots of people, and I probably didn’t have enough seeds to go around, but I was excited to give it all I had.
My name is Jessica Lisk. I’m a former elementary school teacher and now a homeschooling mom of three. A couple of years ago, I felt a tremendous call on my life to start writing for children, and so as the ideas started coming to me, I just started writing them down.
My hope is to provide a light in this dark world by inspiring children, through my books, to offer their gifts to better serve the world. “Oh, the Seeds You Can Sow” is the second book that I have written, but the very first that you will see in print! In many ways, Janie Grace’s story is also mine. She has no idea if her small seeds will be enough to make a difference, but she knows that she has to try! In the same way, I have no idea what kind of positive impact I can make on the hearts and minds of children, or if it will be “enough”; however, as both a parent and an educator, I am convinced that I must offer my “little bit” in hopes of seeing a harvest from those small seeds.
Last year, my husband and I took a leap of faith and started From Seeds to Trees Press, LLC., which is the publishing company that will imprint each of the books that I write. We are now working with two illustrators to make these books come to life. The illustrator for this particular book is the fabulous Gabby Correia. She is both a digital illustrator and caricature artist from South Africa.
We strongly believe in the importance of the message in this book and have invested large amounts of time and money into this project already. Editing and illustrations are done, but we need your help to bring this project to completion!
How the money will be spent:
This is an all-or-nothing campaign, meaning that if we do not reach our goal, your credit card will not be charged, and we will get none of the money pledged by our backers.
I want to personally thank you (from the bottom of my heart) for helping us bring this project to life! Every single “seed sown” helps more than you know. We are eternally grateful for your support.
It’s important to note that Kickstarter is an all or nothing platform, meaning if we do not reach our goal, we get none of the money. However, your credit card will only be charged if we reach our goal. We anticipate shipping orders to our backers by Sept/Oct 2020. The only risks and challenges involved will be that shipping could be delayed.
