SAM HELL— originally intended to be only a few “Bonus” Cards in this campaign— has proven so popular that, effective immediately, once we hit our initial goal of $8000:
Due to the how Kickstarter is structured, I can’t alter existing pledge levels to reflect this. But trust me: it will happen. You will be among the first people to read the very first SAM HELL story.
This will be the first story I have written and drawn— solo— in far, far too long! I can’t wait to do it! But I can’t do it without you.
And it’s a Christmas story!
One Hell of a Christmas story!
If you want one of the SIGNED, UNCUT TRADING CARD SHEETS— they are STILL AVAILABLE.
There are only 100 of the SECTION ZERO sheets and 100 of the IMPOSSIBLE JONES sheets, and since I’m offering them singly and as a set, I’m putting them up in incremental lots so I don’t over-sell them.
If the current reward levels are sold out, please check back— new reward levels will be posted as soon as possible. Taking kids to school and play dates and such is what usually slows me down.
When all 100 signed sheets are sold out, I’ll clearly announce that RIGHT HERE.
And now— as Rocky and Bullwinkle would say— it’s on with the show— !
Well, I love Trading Cards! I love how they can capture a character or moment in a single image, with just a few carefully chosen words. I love how they fit in your pocket and can go anywhere. I love how easy they are to share and show.
I’ve always wanted to do Trading Cards for my creator-owned projects SECTION ZERO and IMPOSSIBLE JONES. Mostly because it would be a fun, special treat for people who enjoy those projects. Like me. And you.
Except there never seemed to be the right place to do them.
And then Kickstarter announced MAKE 100.
The idea is to MAKE 100 of something. Something small, something personal. Something you haven’t been able to do someplace else.
For instance…
SECTION ZERO Trading Cards Set #1 will include:
These cards are already finished, and ready to go to the printer!
When all 16 cards are laid out in order, face-down, you will see this:
The Brand New SECTION ZERO ON EASTER ISLAND Print!
Penciled by TOM GRUMMETT, inked by KARL KESEL, colored by (yes— the finished piece will be in Full Color) JEREMY COLWELL. This is the first time this art will appear anywhere!
IMPOSSIBLE JONES Trading Cards Set #1 will include:
These cards are already finished, and ready to go to the printer!
When all 16 cards are laid out in order, face-down, you will see this:
The Brand New IMPOSSIBLE JONES “NIGHTHAWKS” Print!
Penciled by DAVID HAHN, inked by KARL KESEL, colored by (yes— the finished piece will be in Full Color) TONY AVINA. This is the first time this art will appear anywhere!
NOTE: Both of these SECTION ZERO and IMPOSSIBLE JONES cards sets will not have a limited print run. The MAKE 100 part of this campaign kicks in now, because…
I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE THINKING: Those prints are pretty sweet! If only there was some way I could get them as a single, uncut image!
Funny you should say that…
I will MAKE 100 uncut sheets of each Trading Card set! 11×17 inches, card stock, signed and numbered. They’ll look a lot like this:
Suitable for framing— and, of course, the only way to get the Easter Island and Nighthawks Prints on the back of the cards in uncut form.
THERE WILL ONLY BE 100 OF THESE UNCUT SHEETS for each Trading Card set! Since I’m offering these separately and together, I’ll be putting them up in incremental lots so I don’t over-sell them. If the reward level you want is “sold out” but I haven’t announced all 100 are sold, please check back— new lots will be available soon.
Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
But you can still get the regular, trimmed cards— as many sets as you want! (Scroll down to “Let’s Talk About Add-Ons…”)
These Trading Cards also mark the FIRST APPEARANCE OF SAM HELL— a new character I’ve had kicking around in my head for a while.
SAM HELL is a necromantic noir. An occult investigator with intimate knowledge of the arcane arts, although he can no longer cast spells himself. I plan/hope to write, pencil and ink— by myself, solo— his story some time in the near future.
Pick up the SECTION ZERO card set and you’ll receive the FIRST SAM HELL card— KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE, available nowhere else:
Get the IMPOSSIBLE JONES card set and you’ll also get the SECOND SAM HELL card— KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE, available nowhere else:
You can also acquire the Maltese-Falcon-rare THIRD SAM HELL card— KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE, available nowhere else, signed by KARL KESEL— but ONLY IF YOU ORDER BOTH UNCUT SHEETS! Meaning there will be fewer than 100 of these in existence— ever! It’ll look something like this:
Except with real art and stuff.
To keep things simple, USA postage is already included in all reward levels. It’s a few extra dollars if you live in Canada, and an outrageous amount extra if you live anywhere else. Because life isn’t fair.
I consider the United Kingdom part of the European Union. Because Brexit hasn’t happened yet. And I’m a Yank.
If your country isn’t listed, please send me a message telling me which item(s) you want and where you live, and I’ll tell you what your postage cost would be.
While the SECTION ZERO and IMPOSSIBLE JONES Uncut Sheets are limited to 100 each, the trimmed sets are not. You can get as many of those as you want! Simply add $15 to your pledged amount for each additional set, and message me about which set(s) you want. It will be duly noted in the Ledger of Important Things.
As always, none of this is possible without you. I am incredibly lucky to be able to eke out a living doing what I love— but that is only because of your support, your encouragement, and your belief in the odd little stories, characters and ideas that fill my small mind.
The only way I can begin repaying you is by promising to never give you less than my very best. And hope it finds a place in your heart.
This campaign is small and focused. All art and design work is finished, and ready to go to the printer. Once printed, the uncut sheets will need to be sent to the pencilers for signing— which could possibly cause unforeseen delays, but probably won’t. Beyond that I see a very swift fulfillment— done with what I call “Ron Randall reliability”— in the near future. Barring acts of God, of course.
