My name is Kristi Goslar, Music Educator at Public School 34, located in Brooklyn, NY. My passion to bring music education to PS 34 began five years ago, when I realized that very little music education could be offered due to lack of funding. I began volunteering my time as a choir director, and it immediately became apparent that there was a great need. Students begged for more opportunities, and one choir turned into 3. As the passion of the students grew, it kindled a fire in my heart to bring them more. These kids deserved more opportunities to thrive in the arts- particularly in the area of music. It is then that I made the life changing decision to pour my entire heart and soul into bringing more music education to this wonderful little public school. I formed my own LLC, Key of Be, and embarked on a journey to saturate this school with opportunities in music. Through the great generosity of the PTA, students now receive Music Theory, Music History, Chorus, Bucket Drumming, and now, Bucket Drumming Brigade. I made a promise to myself that I would not let one school year go by without taking this music program to the next level. HERE is where I need your help!
Starting next year, would like my senior year drummers to advance to Marching Band.
Because I am a small start up company, I lack the funding to purchase snare drums for an entire grade. My drummers currently learn on buckets, which is a fun and valuable experience! However, my dream is that by their final year at PS 34, students would have the honor of marching in the Annual Flag Day Parade, proudly sharing their drumming talents with the community! Attached you will find two photos of what is needed in order for this dream to become reality. In order to accommodate the entire 5th Grade class, we will need approximately 90 single snare drums and 3 multi drum sets.
I know there are many great causes to support out there, and I know this is a big ask. But, I believe with all of my heart that expanding this program will be life-changing for our kids! Thank you so very much for your support. No amount is too small!
Snare drums are expensive. In order to reach this goal, I need to raise a total of $15,000. We are a Title One school, and such funding is not available in the school budget.
