Buddy System is working on our second album, tentatively titled Window Seat! In the three years since our debut album, we’ve traveled thousands and thousands of miles, played in about 20 states (and 3 countries) for a ton of dances and festivals and 34 dance weekends …. and along the way, we’ve written a whole bunch of tunes. So many, that this time our album will be 100% tunes by the two of us: 18 new compositions in total, inspired by our travels in the dance community.
The album will feature our unique duo sound of fiddle and feet (Noah VanNorstrand) and piano (Julie Vallimont). We’re also taking the opportunity to add the sounds of some of the other instruments we play (guitar! accordion! organ! jawharp! percussion!) and explore some new textures and grooves, all imbued with the energy of dance music.
The dance community has been such an inspiration and support to us over the years. We’d like to thank you by making you a part of this album and bringing you on the behind-the-scenes journey with us, with a view from a Window Seat of your own. After all, you help shape our music from the dance floor! All of our Kickstarter backers will have access to a special private webpage with updates about our album progress, rehearsal recording clips, photos, videos from the studio, previews of the album art, stories, and more.
We’ve re-assembled our amazing “Dream Team”: Andrew VanNorstrand producing and Dana Billings engineering, and we’ll be recording again at Northfire Recording Studio in Amherst, with its marvelous Yamaha grand piano. We head to the studio in mid-December 2019 (soon!). Then the album will be mixed and mastered. Julie is also an accomplished visual artist, and she’ll be creating the album artwork and design. We hope to release the CD sometime in late winter or spring 2020.
A project like this has a lot of expenses. To make this album, we’re asking for your help! Our goal of $12,000 would cover most of of the production, recording, and mixing. The stretch goal of $15,000 would cover the whole album, including mastering, artwork and design, printing, and other expenses. Any additional funds would go directly towards improving the album, giving us more studio time to create. Thank you so much for your support!!!

The goal is a spring 2020 release, but the timeline may get pushed back if things come up. Everything has been carefully planned out, but you never know what could happen along the way!
