Hi, I’m Tia! I am a: Mom, Wife, Daughter, Grand-daughter, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker by profession. Most recently, I’ve become a licensed Zumbini (& for schools) instructor! I wanted to share with you why I’ve initiated this Kickstarter campaign. I am very passionate about the overall well-being of all human beings. I am especially committed to doing my part to remove the stigma from mental & emotional health. I strongly believe a program like Zumbini helps to do so in a very organic way.
I am a full-time working mom to a very busy & active (almost 3) year old son. My son LOVES all things music and to dance. He’s involved in various activities, but he’s always asking to come to work with me. This both warms my heart, and tears me up because I obviously can’t bring him to my day job. So, I thought, why not start a job that I can bring him to, and Zumbini is it! So let me tell you about Zumbini!
A Zumbini class is a 45-minute music and movement experience, which is developmentally appropriate & specifically designed for children 0-4 (but the 5 & 6 year old’s will LOVE it too), and their caregiver(s). The class includes dancing, singing and playing instruments. It provides exposure to global music and all of its benefits. It is filled with many original songs, created by Zumba Fitness specifically for this class format. The class focuses on energy, fun, and play to contribute toward the natural development of cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills.
Sounds AH-MAZING right?! I know!!!! But, I need your help to put the final pieces in place. As many of you know, starting a new business adventure can be costly and scary. I am really hoping to bring this awesome program to my community (and surrounding) by the Spring. I also want to make sure that I don’t half step as it’s EXTREMELY important to me that my participants are fully immersed into the Zumbini program, and have access to the full experience.
So, here’s what we need….25 pairs of rhythm sticks, 25 pairs of egg shakers, 25 wrist bells, 25 scarves, 11 rhythm bongo drums (sized for kids), 1-2 gathering drums, 3-5 kids percussion hand drums. Chiquitas, clatterpillars, castanets, cage bells, tambourines, cymbals (5 inch), or finger cymbals, playground balls, a parachute (think elementary school gym class). A rechargeable bluetooth speaker & a carrier to transport all of the above.
Every bit helps, and I sincerely thank you in advance for taking the time to read about my endeavor. I will leave you with this….I’ve got the moves! I bring the fun! And, I will be facilitating caregiver/child bonding through movement & music! So, help some people come Zumbini with me!
Because I strongly believe in transparency, a couple of identified potential risks and challenges of this project are: securing the right location & getting participants to register. I have a few ideas swirling around regarding seeking a location. I am also licensed to facilitate a Zumbini class in a preschool/day care setting; so, I will be approaching various facilities in my area to discuss the possibility of offering Zumbini to their population. With regard to class participants, the Zumbini brand also advertises our classes on their global website. Additionally, I will be offering Demo & pop-up class events (which is why I need your help to secure one of the most important aspects of this endeavor…the instruments).
