Hold up. How are we making history?
We’ve all heard of “Alice in Wonderland”, but sadly there have never been picture books that explain these odd, but beautiful, characters to a younger audience. In fact, most children only know them from the Disney movie if they know them at all. But what if we can change that? We can! With your help, I plan to create a ten-book series titled Other Wonderland Tales, which is a spin-off of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass classics. We are starting with BOOK ONE, Tweedledee and Tweedledum!
You don’t know Tweedledee and Tweedledum? Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat! Okay. We speculate that they are twin brothers, probably the most well-known and mysterious twins to this day… aside from Mary Kate and Ashley Olson, but did we ever get to know who these two mysterious twin boys were? We never really knew much about these two, other than their odd behaviors and the fact that they look so identical. It’s been hard to tell them apart, until now!
Tweedledee and Tweedledum will be the first in a series of “Alice in Wonderland” spin-offs. After reaching our goal, we plan to jump right into the next one in the series. Backers can even help choose the next character/s for BOOK 2.
Well, because it is. This isn’t a regurgitated version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. It’s a newly written, never heard before story featuring just two of the characters. Of course, we have some special ‘Easter Eggs’ that you get to search for, but the story showcases these adorable twins.
I’ve scoured condensed picture book versions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland all over the net to be constantly disappointed. Alice in Wonderland is such an amazing story that it really is hard to cut it down to 700 words or less without cutting out major parts and characters. That’s where my book differs. I’m not trying to be Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I’m getting children excited about the characters, before diving into the thick book. I’m making something that fans can enjoy and share while making a great tribute to Lewis Carroll and John Tenniel.
Tweedledee and Tweedledum look so much alike that it really is hard to tell them apart. They look the same and dress the same, but are they really? We now get to dive into the private lives of our beloved twins to find out how different they really are!
This children’s story is cleverly written and rhymed by author Anders Roseberg. Every line is rhyming with the two long-Es in Tw(ee)dled(ee) and the long-E and short-U in Tw(ee)dled(u)m. Still confused? Well, let’s read one of the pages.
“Tweedledee (E,E)
will clean up crumbs, (E,u)
likes speaking Greek, (E,E)
and coffee mugs. (E,u)
But freaky things (E,E)
and sneaky slugs, (E,u)
who’s pleased with these? (E,E)
Tweedledum.” (E,u)
Ah, poetic genius. Dr. Seuss eat your heart out.
So how exactly do you tell Tweedledee and Tweedledum apart? Read the story and find out for yourself!
This picture book isn’t just for children, but for those who adore the characters in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Face the ‘curiouser’ music! Fans now can share Tweedledee and Tweedledum; Another WonderlandTale and the other books in this series to a much younger audience than ever before.
Hi there! I’m Anders Roseberg, author of Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Tweedledee and Tweedledum is a rhyming picture book that can be not only be enjoyed by children but fans of all ages. Being a fan of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, I’ve always been fascinated by the unique characters, but the book is long-winded and hard to understand for a young reader. I wanted to share these characters in a way that children could understand. I’m super excited to share the characters, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, in the first book, and I am even more excited to share future characters with you.
Inspired by John Tenniel’s art style, Alex Preyzner is bringing Tweedledee and Tweedledum to life in Anders Roseberg’s new picture book, Tweedledee and Tweedledum. We are continuing with the pen and ink style but adding color, giving it a “Where the Wild Things Are” kind of feel.
Kickstarter is a crowdfunding service where the community can support creative people giving them the resources they need to turn their ideas into reality. It also can be a great platform for getting an idea into the eyes of the entire globe. For me, I’m hoping for both. This beautiful book deserves to be printed on an offset printer, traditionally. Anyone in the book industry knows how expensive publishing can be, with illustrations, printing, ISBN, formatting, design, etc. Although reaching the goal won’t cover the entire cost of publishing the book, I’m passionate about sharing this book with the world and I hope to, at the very least, raise the money necessary to pay for following expenses:
Where will your contributions go?
There aren’t many risks involved since the bulk of the hard work is complete. I found a printer abroad that will do a phenomenal job. Shipping does take time so there could be a challenge of meeting our deadline, especially if we have a huge interest in this book. However, because I’ve given myself some room, I’m completely confident that upon reaching our goal, we can meet our deadline and possibly even have these lovable characters in your home by the end of March or early April.
