Before we even began the planning stages of this project, we were told we couldn’t do it. Many said it was far too risky and, as young filmmakers, our ambitions were far too high given we were self-funding most of the production. Even building a passionate team of filmmakers and brave protagonists was a challenge, but this was our first and most important task. We have managed to build a passionate team of people who care enormously about the completion of this project and the voices we intend to amplify around the world. We travelled to Hong Kong where we’ve been at the heart of the protests, capturing stories from the front lines. We filmed in Uganda for multiple weeks, establishing authentic relationships and gaining the trust of our protagonist and hosts. Neither of these tasks were easy and it took months of careful planning. The biggest risk in this project was starting it, and we have conquered this emphatically. Our next challenge moving forward is piecing together the footage and stories we have captured into a digestible and compelling documentary for our audiences. Our protagonists are on the ground doing this work every single day, and this film serves as an amplifier to their already compelling voices. We have continued to round out our team with a passionate post-production crew, whose experience we will draw on to ensure we deliver a film that lives up to the hard work and dedication of its heroes. It is worth noting that in order to deliver your rewards, we may need personal information from you (i.e. name, home address, email address).
